Musical improvisation is a form of expression in which musicians create music spontaneously and without pre-written notes. It is all about expressing yourself, listening to others and discovering new worlds of sound.

## Purpose of Lesson Package:

This curriculum is designed to teach participants how to practice musical improvisation and develop their creative musical skills. Here are some of the goals of this curriculum:

Learn the basics of musical improvisation, such as responding to others and developing themes.
Develop skills in spontaneous musical creativity and improvisation.
Improve listening skills and collaboration with fellow musicians.
Explore different musical styles and genres through improvisation.

## Contents of curriculum:

1. Introduction to Musical Improvisation: In this first lesson, we will familiarize participants with the basics of musical improvisation, such as "Listening and Responding" and creating a safe musical environment.
2. Thematic Improvisation: In this class we will delve deeper into improvising within certain musical themes. Participants will learn how to develop melodies and harmonies in spontaneous sessions.
3. Collaboration and Listening: Musical improvisation requires strong collaboration and listening skills.
4. Exploring musical styles: Participants will have the opportunity to explore different musical styles and genres through improvisation, from jazz and blues to world and electronic music.
5. Musical Jam Sessions: At the end of the curriculum, participants can demonstrate their new skills in a musical jam session. This is a chance to shine and enjoy creating music together.

## Supplies:

- Musical instruments (depending on participants).
- Notation sheets or recording equipment for capturing improvisations
- A space to play and create
- Open mind and enthusiasm for musical exploration
